Cultural expression of Galway
Galway Arts Festival is the defining cultural expression of Galway. Its contribution to cultural, social and economic life of west of Ireland is immeasurable. While the Festival celebrates Galway in July each year, Galway itself is a city in celebration during the Festival. The artists from all over the world, who wishing to be considered for presentation in the 2011 Galway Arts Festival, are welcome to submit proposals and ideas to the Festival.

Galway Arts Festival is an international celebration of the performing and visual arts, being one of the Europe’s key cultural events, over 150,000people are attending the festival every single year, hundreds of writers, artists, performers and musicians creating theatre, spectacle, street art, music, comedy, literature and music to produce a stunning fortnight of cultural activity and celebration. Galway Arts Festival is a curated Festival and participation is by invitation only with artists and productions selected by the Festival Artistic Director.

This year we will be enjoying the 34th Galway Arts Festival through development of the Festival’s Volunteer Programme and Selected, a new artist development strand of the Festival for emerging artists and producers.

Its considered as one of Europe most inventive, vibrant and colorful events. A truly international celebration of the performing and visual arts which takes place in and around Galway City each July, its at the heart of all aspects of life in the city.

The art festival has become a vital showcase for Irish arts internationally and international arts in Ireland and is now firmly established as Ireland’s leading arts festival, with its 33year history. The art includes aslo dance, physical theatre and spectacle from America and Europe.

It represents the Festival’s continuing commitment to staging extraordinary, ambitious and innovative projects, the world premiere of new Irish theatre and site-specific visual arts commissions to add to the magic and diversity of Galway.
