The Christmas markets are the most beautiful event of the year: colored lights, lots of music and dozens of stalls where you can buy practically anything, from sweets to small handcrafted gifts. In Italy there are certainly many to visit, but which are the most beautiful in the world?

10 Sibiu Romania
The Christmas market in Sibiu, Romania. From the Ferris wheel to local gastronomic specialities, it’s a real magic that takes place from 11 November 2022 to 8 January 2023.
9 Zagreb Croatia
Usually considered a summer destination, Croatia is completely transformed with the arrival of Christmas. And the most authentic atmospheres can be found in Zagreb, where one of the most important festivals of the year takes place: Advent. From 26 November 2022 to 7 January 2023, the city is a riot of lights and colours, food stands (and more) and many shows for adults and children.
8 Galway Ireland
The Galway international Christmas market, one of the most evocative in all of Ireland. It is held from 11 November to 22 December 2022, so there isn’t much time left to immerse yourself in its wonder: over 50 stalls, a large Ferris wheel and Santa’s grotto, designed especially for children, await you for lots of fun.
7 Krakow Poland
It is in the heart of the ancient city of Krakow that a truly unique Christmas market takes place every year, nestled between noble palaces and the majestic Basilica of Santa Maria. From 25 November to 26 December 2022, you can visit dozens of stands, taste many local delicacies and watch street performances. Obviously, you can’t forget the traditional Christmas Nativity Scene Competition, which is held on the first Thursday of December.
6 Dresden Germany
The Striezelmarkt in Dresden, where the Christmas atmosphere is at home: just think that it was born in the distant 1434, and is considered the oldest in the world. In this year’s edition, which takes place from 23 November to 24 December 2022, the streets of the city are crowded with over 240 stalls where you can buy traditional gastronomic specialties and small handicrafts.
5 Vienna Austria
Another magical place is the city of Vienna, where the Christmas Village is set up every year, one of the most beautiful markets in all of Europe. Among the many events taking place in the Austrian capital, this is perhaps the most evocative: in the setting of the Belvedere Castle, from 18 November to 26 December 2022, young and old can experience a unique emotion amidst stalls and Christmas decorations.
4 Birmingham England
The Christmas market in Birmingham, perhaps the largest German-inspired market outside Germany. It takes place from November 3 to December 22, 2022, and is a riot of lights, Christmas decorations and incredible flavours. Given the many craft stalls, this is the perfect opportunity to grab Christmas presents to distribute to friends and relatives.
3 Chicago USA
On the podium is the Chicago Christmas market, one of the oldest in America: now in its 26th edition, it is a real corner of Bavaria on the other side of the world. Between food stands and rides, there is plenty to have fun for adults and children. But you have to hurry, because it doesn’t last very long: this year it’s only held from 18 to 24 December 2022, right after the holidays.
2 Berlin Germany
the famous Christmas market in Berlin, which every year welcomes thousands of visitors from all over the world. Housed in Gendarmenmarkt, one of the most beautiful squares in the historic center surrounded by splendid festively lit buildings, the market sees not only many stalls in orderly rows, but also shows of all kinds and good music to listen to. It takes place from 21 November to 23 December 2022.
1 Brussels Belgium
The most beautiful Christmas market in the world: according to this special ranking, the title goes to Winter Wonders in Brussels, a real festival dedicated to the most magical moment of the year. Wooden chalets welcome stalls of all kinds, but there are also a gigantic tree, an ice rink, a Ferris wheel and a life-size nativity scene. From 25 November 2022 to 1 January 2023, fun is guaranteed.
