Great! San Francisco is a fantastic city with so much to see and do. Here’s an itinerary for a 5-day trip:
Day 1 in San Francisco:
- Start your day with a visit to the Golden Gate Bridge, one of the most iconic landmarks in San Francisco.
- After the bridge, head to Fisherman’s Wharf, where you can grab some seafood, visit the sea lions, and check out the shops.
- In the afternoon, take a tour of Alcatraz Island, which used to be a federal prison and is now a popular tourist destination.
Day 2 in San Francisco:
- Take a trip to Golden Gate Park, which is filled with museums, gardens, and other attractions. Don’t miss the California Academy of Sciences, the de Young Museum, and the Japanese Tea Garden.
- In the evening, head to the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, which was the center of the counterculture movement in the 1960s. Explore the vintage shops and cafes, and soak up the bohemian atmosphere.
Day 3 in San Francisco:
- Take a day trip to the wine country, just a short drive from San Francisco. and Sonoma Valley are both great options, with stunning scenery and delicious wines.
- Alternatively, you can take a ferry to Sausalito, a charming waterfront town with art galleries, restaurants, and views of the San Francisco Bay.
Day 4 in San Francisco:
- Spend the morning exploring Chinatown, one of the largest and oldest in North America. Check out the shops and restaurants, and visit the Chinese Historical Society of America Museum.
- In the afternoon, take a cable car ride, one of San Francisco’s most iconic experiences. Make sure to ride the Powell-Hyde or Powell-Mason lines for the best views.
- In the evening, head to the Mission District, a diverse and vibrant neighborhood with great food, street art, and nightlife.
Day 5 in San Francisco:
- Start your day with a visit to the Palace of Fine Arts, a beautiful landmark with a lagoon and classical architecture.
- After the palace, head to the Presidio, a former military base turned national park. Check out the hiking trails, historic sites, and views of the Golden Gate Bridge.
- In the evening, head to the Embarcadero, a waterfront area with restaurants, bars, and views of the Bay Bridge.
